Sheikh Mahdi Al-Sumaidaie Visits Our University

The Chairman of the Fatwa Council in Iraq, his Eminence the Grand Mufti Sheikh Dr. Mahdi Al-Sumaidaie, visited our university. He was welcomed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Mudher Abdullah Al-Dhalimi, and the University President, Prof. Dr. Aqeel Sarhan Muhammad Al-Ghazi.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors welcomed the visit, reviewing the university's progress and the developments it has witnessed in the short years since its founding.

Sheikh Al-Sumaidaie expressed his satisfaction and happiness at visiting one of the country's centers of knowledge and learning, established in recent years to contribute to its scientific and academic renaissance. He emphasized the significant and vital role universities play in strengthening national unity by instilling the values ??of citizenship and peaceful coexistence, providing education that raises societal awareness of individuals' responsibility toward their homeland, shaping the cultural and intellectual thought of young people, and reducing social disparities by providing equal educational opportunities, encouraging teamwork, and linking the outcomes of scientific research to the needs and issues of society, thus contributing to build a harmonious society.

For his part, the university president praised Sheikh Al-Sumaidaie's courageous and forthright patriotic stances on the issues he and the region have faced and are facing, as well as his moderate discourse, free from extremism and entrenchment, and his call for Iraqi unity on internal and external events and positions.

The meeting was attended by the university president's assistants, deans of colleges, and senior university staff.
