In light of the directives of the Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Mudher Abdullah Abdulaali, and the President of the University Prof. Dr. Aqeel Sarhan Muhammad, the College of Law, in cooperation with the Departments of Psychological Counseling, Educational Guidance and Student Activities, held a sport symposium entitled (Football in Muthanna: Its Reality and Ways to Improve It), in which:
1. Prof. Dr. Ghanim Najeeb Abbas – Chairman
2. The Pioneer Athlete Muslim Ali Al-Samawi – Lecturer
3. Lect. Dr. Basim Hassan Khudair - Rapporteur.
The symposium tackled the history of the football game in the governorate since Samawah was a district affiliated with Diwaniyah, until it was transformed into a governorate. Moreover, it highlighted the experience of its first club, Samawah Club, in its competitions at the level of Iraq, and its presentation to a good group of players who represented the country’s club teams and national teams and its outcome. In recent years, the team fell to the ranks of the third classification, so this symposium reviewed the reasons for this failure, and pointed out the best ways to advance it and return to the top classification.
