On the occasion of the Week Against Violent Extremism Conducive to Terrorism, the Medical Instrumentation Techniques Department at the Technical Engineering College of our university—in cooperation with the Sunni Endowment Office in the governorate and the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Division—organized a scientific and educational seminar titled Islam's Stance on Extremism.
The seminar featured the participation of:
-
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muslim Shaker Al-Jayashi – First Speaker
-
Dr. Qutaiba Adnan Shaker – Second Speaker
-
Assistant Lecturer Haider Abdul-Razzaq Al-Samawi – Rapporteur
The seminar emphasized that Islam is a religion of peace, love, tolerance, mercy, and compassion—both among Muslims and toward all people. Almighty God addresses His Beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), praising and honoring him while defining his mission: "And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds"—that is, for all humanity. God also says: "There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concerned over you and to the believers is kind and merciful." In another verse, He describes the Prophet's gentle approach with the people of his time: "So by mercy from Allah, [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you."
The Noble Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the symbol of Islam and an exemplar for all humankind. The teachings of true Islam are measured by his biography and the path of the leaders of truth and guidance who followed him, rather than by the actions of Muslims in general.
