In implementation of the curriculum prepared by our university presidency for Iraqi Anti-Drug Week, the Dean's Office of the College of Law—in cooperation with the Departments of University Psychological Guidance and Student Activities—organized an educational and scientific seminar titled "The Role of the Family in Mitigating Drug Proliferation in Society" at 10:30 AM on Sunday, November 16, 2025. The seminar featured the participation of:
-
Lecturer Dr. Younis Shu'ail Ajeel – Chair
-
Lecturer Zainab Muhsin Mohammed – Speaker
-
Lecturer Dr. Ali Rahim Khadar – Rapporteur
The seminar addressed the vital role played by the family in curbing the spread of narcotics in society. It highlighted that the family plays a decisive role in addiction prevention by fostering a healthy, supportive environment for its members. Families reinforce trust and respect among individuals while providing essential emotional, psychological, and social support. Furthermore, the family offers guidance and education regarding the risks and adverse effects of addiction, while encouraging participation in community-based recovery programs and social support networks.
