The seminar addressed the scourge of drug abuse and psychotropic substances through the dual perspectives of Islamic Sharia and Iraqi jurisprudence, examining their detrimental impacts, the divine objectives behind their prohibition, and the vital role of mosques and universities in raising community awareness. The discussion highlighted that Islamic Sharia strictly prohibits drug consumption and trafficking due to the severe health, psychological, social, and economic harm inflicted on both individuals and society. In this context, Iraqi legislation imposes strict penalties to combat drug trafficking and abuse, seeking to safeguard society from their negative impacts. Furthermore, mosques play a pivotal role in promoting awareness of these dangers through religious discourse and ongoing education, thereby reinforcing religious and ethical values that urge individuals to avoid all harmful practices.
