In implementation of the curriculum prepared by our university presidency for Iraqi Anti-Drug Week, the Dean's Office of the College of Law—in cooperation with the Department of Forensic Evidence at the College of Science, as well as the Departments of University Psychological Guidance and Student Activities—organized an educational and scientific seminar titled "Social, Psychological, and Economic Impacts of Drug Abuse and Prevention Strategies" at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. The seminar featured the participation of:
-
Lecturer Dr. Younis Shu'ail Ajeel – Chair
-
Lecturer Dr. Ali Rahim Khadar – Speaker
-
Lecturer Zainab Muhsin Mohammed – Rapporteur
The seminar emphasized that the drug problem is one of the most critical and dangerous challenges facing the world today, impacting societies, policymakers, and decision-makers alike. The gravity of this deadly scourge lies in the rising prevalence of drug abuse worldwide, particularly within Arab and Islamic societies. Amid security, economic, and social pressures faced by individuals in modern society, some succumb to these hazardous substances, which inflict devastating social, psychological, economic, and security consequences on both the individual and the entire community.
