Mr. Ahmed Al-Fartoosi, Editor-in-Chief of Sabah Al-Muthanna newspaper and sports journalist, delivered an educational lecture titled "The Role of Sports in Countering Violent Extremism Conducive to Terrorism."
During the lecture—which was attended by University Council member Prof. Dr. Ghanim Najib Abbas—Al-Fartoosi emphasized that sports play a pivotal role in combating extremism by promoting the values of respect, cooperation, and fair play. He highlighted how sports provide positive alternatives for young people to occupy their free time, build life skills, and foster tolerance and community belonging. Furthermore, he noted that sports serve as a powerful platform for bringing people together and developing the capacity to cope with stress and challenges in a healthy manner.
