The College of Health and Medical Technologies at Sawa University held an awareness lecture entitled “Manifestations of Violent Extremism in Iraq and Ways to Combat It.”
Under the patronage of Dr. Mudhir Abdullah Al-Dhalimi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Prof. Dr. Aqeel Sarhan Al-Ghazi, President of Sawa University, the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Department of Radiology, in cooperation with the Subcommittee for Combating Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism in Al-Muthanna Governorate, organized an awareness lecture entitled “Manifestations of Violent Extremism in Iraq and Ways to Combat It” on Monday, April 20, 2026.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Hassan Jabbar Abbas Al-Dhalimi for second-year students. It addressed the concepts of extremism and terrorism, examined the manifestations and types of extremism, and discussed the strategies and approaches that should be adopted to confront it.
The lecture also highlighted the importance of promoting the values of moderation and tolerance, rebuilding the intellectual framework, developing discourse that stands against extremist ideology, and raising cultural, political, and social awareness among members of society. It further emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination among various state institutions to address the threat of terrorism and ideological extremism.
