In implementation of the curriculum approved by the Dean's Office of the College of Health and Medical Technologies at our university, the Department of Anesthesia Technologies—in cooperation with the Departments of University Psychological Guidance and Student Activities—organized a scientific seminar titled "Urinary Tract Infection: Causes, Symptoms, Prevention, and Treatment" at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 1, 2025. The seminar addressed Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs), noting that they are primarily caused by bacterial pathogens such as Escherichia coli, which accounts for over 80% of cases, while other species such as Staphylococcus or Pseudomonas may cause infections in rare instances. The session detailed common symptoms, including dysuria (burning sensation during urination), urinary frequency, and lower abdominal or back pain. Furthermore, speakers highlighted that UTIs predominantly affect women, as well as children, females, and men over fifty—particularly those with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), diabetes, or immunocompromised conditions. Prevention strategies emphasized high fluid intake, immediate bladder emptying upon urge, and proper front-to-back hygiene, while treatment relies on physician-prescribed antibiotic regimens.
