The Administrative Committee of the Provincial Branch of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate organized a discussion evening entitled “Media Work in the Province During the Next Phase” at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2026.
At the beginning of the session, Mr. Arif Shaheed, Head of the Provincial Branch of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, commended the active participation of the province’s journalists in the recent electoral conference of the Syndicate’s General Headquarters, noting its positive impact. He also addressed the significant duties and responsibilities shouldered by media professionals amid the current circumstances facing Iraq and the province, emphasizing that journalists should always place the interests of the people of the province and Iraq at the forefront of their priorities.
The session was attended by Prof. Dr. Ghanem Najeeb Abbas, a member of the University Council and a media and academic figure. He conveyed the greetings of Dr. Mudhir Abdullah Al-Dhalimi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Prof. Dr. Aqeel Sarhan Mohammed Al-Ghazi, President of Sawa University, to the attendees.
He also expressed the university’s readiness to support the activities and events of media professionals in the province, including organizing training and professional development courses through the university’s Continuing Education Center, which has obtained approval from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
